Next week's second annual Industrial Trades Career Fair will try to match available jobs with an Acadiana workforce hard pressed by a lingering downturn in oil and gas prices.

The Lafayette Economic Development Authority, Louisiana Economic Development, Louisiana Workforce Commission and One Acadiana will present the four-hour event at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Cajundome Convention Center.

Community partners from Lake Charles to Lafayette are working together to address workforce needs in south Louisiana following job reductions by energy, construction and manufacturing companies in the region. The second Industrial Trades Career Fair will be held on Wednesday, February 22. 

Lafayette Economic Development Authority (LEDA), LED FastStart®, Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC) and One Acadiana will host the event at the Cajundome Convention Center, 444 Cajundome Blvd in Lafayette, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Results of a poll commissioned by One Acadiana and Connect Lafayette, a coalition of local groups and governments that support "thoughtful design" for the Interstate 49 Connector, suggest Lafayette Parish voters support completion of the interstate through the city, according to a news release from Connect Lafayette.

Lafayette, La. (February 14, 2017) – One Acadiana, today announced that, in collaboration with the state’s regional economic development organizations, the second annual Statewide Economic Development Summit presented by Entergy will be held on Tuesday, April 11.

Community Foundation of Acadiana (CFA) has created the Greater New Orleans Tornado Relief Fund in response to the devastating tornados that struck several parishes in the Greater New Orleans area on Tuesday, February 7th.

Donations to the fund are tax-deductible and 100% of all contributions will be given to Greater New Orleans Foundation (GNOF) who’s working closely with numerous nonprofit organizations providing immediate assistance to families who suffered catastrophic losses.

The Club was founded on April 8, 1953. Originally, you had to be a man in the oil and gas Industry to join Petroleum Club. That policy changed in the early 1980s when women were allowed to join.  In the mid-1980s, membership was opened up to all professionals in all industries. You no longer had to be in the oil and gas industry to join. Today, all professions are represented in the Club.

Going on tonight, One Acadiana is hosting their annual Regional Celebration with musical guests, Roddie Romero and the Hub City All-Stars.

The event, hosted at the Cajundome Convention Center, will spotlight economic development, policy progress, and marketing efforts for the nine-parish region. 


LAFAYETTE, La. – One Acadiana rolled out an ambitious 2017 agenda Wednesday, touting plans to improve public education; develop and retain a top-flight workforce; shepherd Interstate 49 to a better, more rapid conclusion and bridge societal gaps to promote a more unified community.

One Acadiana’s recent Building the Region Conference connected the economic dots of Acadiana. The two-day traveling conference brought together chamber of commerce, tourism, economic development, and business leaders from across the nine-parish (county) region. Exploring Acadia, Jeff Davis, and St. Martin parishes, tour stops included the economic drivers, hot spots, and cultural treasures of the three parishes.
