Lafayette, LA – One Acadiana (1A) will join Wednesday’s legislative hearing on Louisiana’s Highway Priority Construction Program to advocate for improving the region’s transportation system.

Over the past year, 1A has advocated for transportation infrastructure priorities like completing the I-49 Lafayette Connector and accelerating planning for prioritized investments in regional connectivity. 1A also recently released its Transportation Funding Guiding Principles, a set of high-level recommendations for a statewide transportation funding solution. The recommendations are available on the organization’s website at this link.

“As Acadiana grows, it’s crucial that our transportation infrastructure is able to support the region’s development,” said 1A President & CEO Jason El Koubi. “We appreciate the ongoing construction of I-49 South interchanges at Albertson Parkway in Broussard and at LA 318 in St. Mary Parish. Completing the I-49 Lafayette Connector and I-49 South from Lafayette to New Orleans should be the State’s top transportation priority.”

Known as the DOTD Road Show, the Joint Transportation, Highways, & Public Works Committee conducts an annual series of public hearings in each of the nine DOTD districts. The hearing for District 03, which covers the Acadiana region, is on Wednesday, October 12 at 2 p.m. at Lafayette Consolidated Government City Hall Council Chambers, 705 W University Ave.
