Today, One Acadiana and the I-49 South Coalition joined Gov. John Bel Edwards, DOTD Secretary Shawn Wilson, Sen. Bret Allain, Rep. Sam Jones, and other key transportation stakeholders from across the state to receive an update on progress and view the construction site for the interchange of future I-49 South and LA 318. Leaders discussed how completion of this interchange will greatly enhance safety and economic development opportunities for this area.

Sen. Bret Allain stressed the importance of completing I-49 South, stating, “There is no greater project for the economics of the entire Louisiana coast than I-49 South.”

1A President & CEO Jason El Koubi echoed, “More than 100 of the planned 160 miles of I-49 South are complete or under construction. This critical piece in St. Mary Parish gets us one step closer to upgrading ‘America’s Energy Corridor’ to interstate standards from Lafayette through St. Mary Parish to New Orleans.”
